Team Becs raises £1,200 at Clenchwarton coffee morning in woman's memory

A coffee morning has honoured the memory of a West Norfolk resident and raised more than £1,000 for charity in her name.

The Team Becs coffee morning, held at Clenchwarton Memorial Hall on Saturday, marked the third year such an event has been organised.

The last two of them have been held in memory of West Lynn resident Rebecca Wright, who died in September 2017 aged 35, leaving behind her husband Martin, and children Rose and Arthur.

More than 100 people attended the event, which raised £1,200 for Cancer Research UK – raising funds for the cause that affected Rebecca, who had received a terminal diagnosis of melanoma earlier in 2017.

Team Becs – made up of family and friends of Rebecca – offered a range of homemade cakes and snacks, as well as a raffle with prizes from local businesses at the event on Saturday.

Jemma Curtis, one of the event’s organisers, said: “It was a really fantastic day, so many people who knew Becs came, along with lots of others who wanted to support the cause.

“It was lovely for all those that knew Becs to get together to do something positive in her memory.

“The support from the local businesses was also amazing and we cannot thank them enough as it really helped us make the event special.”

The previous two coffee mornings had also raised more than £1,200 and Rebecca herself had fundraised for Cancer Research UK on a number of occasions.

“Fundraising for Cancer Research was something Becs felt passionate about, to help families like hers stay together for longer,” Jemma added.

She said “no doubt” another coffee morning will be organised again next year.
