Terrington St Clement teenager guilty of child sex offences and possessing extreme animal pornography
A teenager must wait to learn his fate after admitting three offences of possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing extreme animal pornography.
Magistrates at King’s Lynn refused jurisdiction over the case against Lucian McNamara. 19, of Terrington St Clement, when he appeared before them on Thursday.
Prosecutor Abdul Khan, who appeared via video link, described how McNamara was caught after Norfolk Police received information about a Snapchat account associated with an email address which in turn was associated with the defendant.
The Snapchat account had a category C image of a child. Police executed a search warrant at McNamara’s address on February 14 2023 when a number of electronic devices were seized including an iPhone.
Mr Khan said the phone was examined and was found to contain various indecent images of children including category A – the worst kind.
In all he was found to be in possession of a total of 129 images: 14 category A, 33 category B, and 82 category C. Three extreme pornographic images portraying in an explicit and realistic way a person performing sexual acts with a live animal were also found.
Andrew Cogan, defending, suggested the magistrates' powers of punishment might be sufficient to deal with McNamara, however, magistrates decided to refuse jurisdiction and sent him to crown court for sentencing.
They ordered a pre-sentence report.
McNamara, who is facing a potential prison sentence, was granted conditional bail and was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order.
He is due to appear at Norwich Crown Court on September 30.
