Teenagers under investigation after stolen car on fire crashed into Swaffham home
Two teenagers are under investigation after a stolen vehicle which was on fire crashed into a house and set it alight.
Police enquiries continue after the incident in Swaffham on June 30.
At 5.30am, a grey Vauxhall Mokka collided with the front of a property on Lancaster Road.
The occupants of the vehicle fled the scene. No one was injured, but the fire caused significant damage to the property.
Video footage shows the vehicle engulfed in flames outside the home, as well as extensive damage inside the house.
Enquiries led officers to arrest two teenage boys on Lynn Street a short while later.
They were taken to the Lynn Police Investigation Centre, where they were questioned on suspicion of arson endangering life, aggravated vehicle taking, drink and drug-driving, and driving without a licence or insurance.
They were subsequently released on bail pending further investigation, with conditions not to enter Lancaster Road.
The couple who own the home, Manuel Scarrone and his partner Valentin, have launched a GoFundMe appeal following the incident.
It says: “We recently experienced one of the most horrible things that could happen in your life, a devastating house fire.
“We love our house and spent years away from our original country working hard towards this achievement.
“We realized our dream of buying our own place and in a blink of an eye, everything has changed.
“Never in our lives have I ever thought of something so traumatizing could happen to us.
“It feels surreal, we are gutted, the feeling is a mix of grief, sadness, vulnerability and our hearts are broken.
“This is a message to anyone who would be happy to share their love and support, we are extremely grateful to all of you out there who could help with any donations helping us getting our house and life back.”
