Watlington teenager fined after drunken family argument on Station Road
A Watlington teenager has been fined after a drunken row with a family member at home spilled out on to the street.
Police happened to be in Station Road when the 18-year-old was being argumentative with “other members of the public”, Lynn Magistrates’ Court heard on Thursday.
Joshua Smith was shouting and swearing and walking in the road.
He was restrained and taken to the floor by officers but continued with the drunken behaviour and was subsequently arrested.
He pleaded guilty to being drunken and disorderly in the incident at 10pm on July 24.
And he admitted that commission of the offence breached an 18-month conditional discharge imposed two months earlier for having a knife on him in a public place.
The latest offence was “out of character and very much on the spur of the moment”, said solicitor George Sorrell in mitigation.
The row had happened after Smith had consumed three pints of alcohol, the court was told.
The defendant, of Station Road, was fined £50 and ordered to pay £50 costs and £20 victim surcharge.
No action was taken for breaching the court order.
