South West Norfolk MP Terry Jermy recently embarked on summer ‘listening tour’ across his constituency
South West Norfolk MP Terry Jermy is trying to visit as many villages in South West Norfolk as he possibly can throughout July.
This challenge commenced exactly one year since he won his seat in the general election, and the tour has so far already taken in more than 20 villages across the area.
The tour, known as ‘Terry On Tour’, began on July 4 and has included villages such as Shouldham, Watlington, Kenninghall, North Lopham and Fincham.
The aim is to visit as many villages throughout July as possible - not be an easy task as South West Norfolk has 72 villages.
Mr Jermy said: “When you hold public office, it is your duty to listen to the people you serve.
“It is an obligation to be accountable and resolve their problems whenever possible.
“I have always believed meeting people face to face is the best way to engage with anyone, it builds trust, respect, as well as forming a foundation of understanding.
“Across the country, we have seen political turmoil for the past decade, but what we need in the United Kingdom is not division; what we need in the United Kingdom is to find common ground where we can meet.
“I intend to use this tour as a way of doing so.”
The tour has also featured visits to Denver, Emneth, Outwell and Upwell.
He also planned to visit the likes of Gooderstone, Foulden, Narborough, Marham and Beachamwell.
