The Queen avoids the big guns as she has quiet birthday at Sandringham

LEARN MOREThe Queen enjoyed a quiet 96th birthday today on her Sandringham Estate.
Her Majesty came to West Norfolk on Wednesday by helicopter and was spotted out and about today on the estate being driven in a Range Rover in the spring sunshine wearing her trademark headscarf.
It is thought she would have been taking her dogs out for a walk.
In London's Hyde Park there was a 41-gun salute close to Buckingham Palace from The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery but here in Norfolk it was much quieter.
And a 62-gun salute was fired at Tower Bridge by the Honorable Artillery Company.
At the Norwich Gates on the Sandringham Estate there was just a handful of floral tributes wishing her a happy birthday.
The Flynn family from the West Midlands were visiting, with 16-year-old Jack happy to say that he shared his birthday today with the Queen.
The Queen is staying at Wood Farm on the estate, the home for much of the latter part of his life for the Duke of Edinburgh.
Prince Philip died in April 2021 at the age of 99. The Queen was reported to have been visited at the cottage today by her friend Angela Kelly.
