The way forward for King's Lynn Town Guides
After more than 40 years of showing thousands of people around King’s Lynn’s history, the King’s Lynn Town Guides have taken on a new identity.
When a small group of enthusiastic people decided to form the Guides back in 1977, they would have no idea, over 40 years later, that they would have shown literally tens of thousands of people around the town and raised thousands of pounds for charity every year.
Now, 41 years later, the Guides are still going strong and have unveiled their brand-new identity, logo and website.
Developed by Jason Fuller, of Lynn-based brand agency ‘This is Fuller’, the new identity and website builds on the familiar use of the iconic Custom House that has been at the heart of the Guides’ logo for 40 years.
Speaking at the launch of the website, Bob Price, chair of the Guides said: “The Guides’ committee knew we needed a website and a presence on social media to properly promote our walks, but we had no intention of changing our logo or brand identity.
“After we appointed ‘This is Fuller’, Jason was so enthusiastic about creating a new logo, that we agreed to let him show us some ideas, never thinking we would be persuaded to change anything.
“However, once we had seen the proposed new design we were quickly persuaded that this was a great new look for us.”
The logo cleverly incorporates the text “King’s Lynn Town Guides” into the iconic shape of the Custom House, giving a familiar look, but with a very contemporary feel.
This theme is followed through in the website, which is clear and very easy to navigate.
The website gives details of all the walks on offer and features a clever location map showing where each walk starts, as well as a summary of the next four scheduled walks.
Jason said: “The King’s Lynn Town Guides’ rebrand and website was an interesting and challenging project.
“The organisation is steeped in heritage and tradition, but I saw a real opportunity to provide a new and modern update for the brand, while keeping faithful to its roots.
“The response has been very positive, and the new branding and website should serve the Guides well as they continue to attract new visitors to King’s Lynn into the future.”
Town Guides’ publicity officer, Ivor Rowlands, said: “The website will transform the way we can promote our walks – and King’s Lynn. Jason has made sure that the content is easily editable, meaning that I will be able to constantly update it with news, features and feeds from our social media, without me having any technical expertise.
“Jason has been brilliant to work with, helping us every step of the way to make sure we can use the new identity in all media. I’m really looking forward to having the website available to promote the Guides’ walks and the historic features of King’s Lynn.”
The King’s Lynn Town Guides give their services entirely voluntarily. All the money raised from the walks goes directly to conservation projects in the town.
