Thousands turn out for Ladies Day at Fakenham Racecourse
A record-breaking crowd packed into Fakenham Racecourse on Sunday when Ladies Day was in full force.
More than 5,000 visitors made their way to the horse racing venue at the weekend to show off their outfits and watch jockeys race champions around the track.
Fakenham Racecourse’s chief executive officer, David Hunter said: “It was fantastic, a great day of racing. There was an extremely large turn out, large happy crowds.
“All the ladies I spoke to said they were having a fantastic time and were delighted to be there. It seems everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves.”
This year’s Ladies Day, which was sponsored by Jarrold, an independent store selling fashion, furniture, among more, saw crowds dressed in brightly-coloured outfits and matching hats.
“This was some of the ladies first racing experience and, from what I heard, they had a wonderful time,” said Mr Hunter.
“We had a disco to follow the races and many partied on through the evening. Everybody was in good spirits and there was no problems whatsoever.
“It was a great way to finish off the racing season, especially because we lost our Easter Monday race to poor weather.”
