Three students from Springwood High School received their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) at Buckingham Palace on Friday.

Students Lucy Edwards, Alesha Jones and Jack Massingham were presented with certificates and a pin or badge as a reward for two-years of hard work.

DofE manager Pauline Petch said: “This is a fantastic achievement and their awards are well deserved.

“The five sections include volunteering, physical, skills and residential and a difficult expedition in awful weather.

“So arriving at Buckingham Palace with their parents in glorious sunshine meant that the day was wonderful and a lovely change from the expedition phase.”
