Three weeks of repairs to shut busy West Norfolk road

Part of a busy West Norfolk road is set to be closed for up to three weeks so repairs can take place.

County highways officials have this morning announced plans to resurface part of the A1122 at Barton Bendish, with work likely to begin next weekend.

The project is intended to replace a worn out section of the road from 20 metres west of the junction with White Road to 10m beyond the junction with Narborough Hill.

Norfolk County Council says it plans to start work on or around next Saturday, July 11, and the road will need to be closed throughout the repair period, which is expected to take around three weeks.

A signed diversion route will be in place, with access maintained to homes and businesses from one end of the site.

A council spokesman said transport companies and emergency services would also be notified of the work for planning purposes.

He added: "We thank everyone for their patience while we carry out this resurfacing."
