Middleton Primary School time capsule from 2000 set to be dug up this summer

A time capsule buried by primary school youngsters at the start of the century is set to be dug up at an emotional reunion.

In the year 2000, pupils at Middleton VC Primary School put together the capsule containing some of their work, group photos, and an audio recording.

They agreed to dig it up in 25 years time and invite all pupils, staff and friends back for a reunion - and that is exactly what they will do in a few weeks time.

Graham Steel, who was head teacher at the time, is spearheading the event on Saturday, July 12.

“If you were a pupil at Middleton VC Primary School in the academic year September 1999-July 2000, or if you’re just interested in the history of the school, we would love you to attend the opening of the time capsule we buried in the school grounds in 2000,” he said in an open invite.

“Please come along to see us and look at the work each pupil buried and possibly even hear the voices of the children which we recorded at the time.”
