Timeframe of building Downham Market’s Lidl still unknown

When will Downham get a Lidl? That is the question playing on residents’ minds since the planning application was approved earlier this year.

It doesn’t look like the building of the supermarket, due to be located on Bexwell Road, will start this year, as one councillor explained design changes have held the plans back.

During a Downham Town Council meeting held on Tuesday, West Norfolk Council’s Cllr Josie Ratcliffe who represents East Downham Ward said that plans were adjusted after the town council’s request to put carrstone around the front of the store.

Cllr Ratcliffe said: “We hope to get an answer on the time frame soon, I will keep pushing for the time being.”
