Proposals to expand and extend the use of a West Norfolk quarry have been supported by planners.
A report by Norfolk County Council officials reveals that the current permission for the site at Home Farm, Tottenhill Row, Watlington is due to expire on August 1.
However, members of the authority’s planning committee have been recommended to approve an application to extend that permission until 2020 when they meet in Norwich next Friday.
A separate application to extend the quarry has also been recommended for approval, subject to the completion of legal agreements.
Applicants Frimstone Ltd say the extension is needed to enable them to extract a further 335,000 tonnes of mineral on the site, which will take four years to complete.
But Tottenhill parish council has objected, arguing the development would harm the area.
They also claim the scheme does not properly demonstrate the need for the development.
