Hunstanton Carnival enjoys successful first three-day event as thousands flock to green for music and parade

It was a weekend of celebration for a seaside town’s first three-day carnival as thousands enjoyed entertainment in the sunshine.

Hunstanton attracted people from far and wide to its green for music, food, stalls and crafts with more than 4,000 attendees.

Organised by the town’s events team and hosted by KL1 Radio, the carnival saw West Norfolk performers take to the stage on Friday and Saturday, and a variety of groups, clubs and organisations parade through the streets on Sunday.

“We have all been blown away by how well the carnival was received,” said Cllr Mark Williamson, chairman of the team.

“Each year our team strive to make it a fun, family-orientated event.

“There is so much hard work that goes into it, we started planning the event in July 2023.

“This year, we saw crowds rise to over 4,000 attendees, which is fabulous for our seaside town and brought many new visitors to the area from all over the country and showcased what Hunstanton has to offer.”

The team receives no funding for the event and therefore relies on sponsors to help with the stage, sound, lighting and road closure costs to keep it going.

Thanks were given to businesses in the area, as well as Lynx for organising a late bus back to Lynn via the villages, West Norfolk Council for the use of their stage, and all officers and staff at Resort Services for their help and advice.

“Without their assistance, we would not be able to host the event on the green for all to enjoy – huge thanks to you guys,” a spokesperson said.
