Downham Market Academy parkrun set to mark its second anniversary with all encouraged to take part

A parkrun event in West Norfolk is set to celebrate its second anniversary tomorrow.

Downham Market Academy has hosted 94 free 5k events since it first launched on Saturday, March 7, 2022, supporting 1,637 finishers which was made possible by 137 volunteers.

A total of 17% (775) people have achieved personal bests in the two years, with the finish line being crossed 4,522 times. The average finish time is 31:24.

The parkrun, held within the grounds of the secondary school, has welcomed people from all over the world including Australia and Europe, representing 198 different running clubs and communities.

Every Saturday morning at 9am, 13 volunteers support runners and walkers who attend to participate in the timed 5k event.

Everyone is encouraged to take part at Downham Market Academy parkrun, where parking is available and there is also access to toilets in the leisure centre.
