Track damage halts West Norfolk rail services

Rail passengers in West Norfolk are being urged to delay their journeys if they can this morning, following damage to the tracks.

Engineers are currently on site between the Cambridge and Cambridge North stations to fix a broken fishplate, which joins the ends of two rails together.

Great Northern, the main operator of passenger services to and from the borough, said a short time ago that replacement bus services are being set up between Lynn and Cambridge.

But an earlier Twitter post from the company said: "We would recommend to delay travelling between this area where possible."

Passengers are being warned that their journeys could take up to an hour longer than normal because of the fault.
