Shadowthorpe Farm Shop opens in Creake Abbey hoping to offer ‘traditional’ asset to village
A farm shop selling locally sourced produce is the newest asset to a small West Norfolk village.
The shop, called Shadowthorpe, is owned by farmers Hannah and Idan Whyman-Naveh - who named their new business after a breed of sheep they have kept for a number of years.
Shadowthorpe opened at Creake Abbey on Saturday and is situated in the village’s courtyard of shops close to the ruins.
Hannah told the Lynn News that opening the farm shop felt like a “natural progression” for them after running their smallholding for 16 years.
“We've basically been filling our own freezer. This shop is just an extension of that and it was just a natural progression,” she said.
“We were going to do it one day. We just needed to make sure it was in the right venue.”
Shadowthorpe will be selling meat from local providers in Massingham and Fakenham, offering an array of cuts of lamb, beef and more.
Hannah added: “We're trying to secure someone to do turkeys and at Christmas.
“We also sell typical farm shop stuff, such as vegetables and preserves. We want to keep it quite traditional.”
Shadowthorpe will be open Tuesday to Sunday throughout summer from 10am-4pm.
