Plans to build 14 new homes on a site in Tilney St Lawrence are too big for the area, community representatives have warned.

The proposal for the site at 27 Magdalen Road is due to be examined by the West Norfolk Council planning committee at a meeting in Lynn on Monday.

Officers have recommended that the application, submitted by Buildwise Limited, is approved subject to the completion of legal agreements relating to affordable housing, road maintenance and water storage within three months.

Their report to the committee says the application should be refused if no agreement is reached.

But the village’s parish council has objected to the scheme, arguing that too many homes are being proposed and voicing concerns over the flow of traffic from the site on to Magdalen Road.

A number of residents who have also commented on the proposals have called for traffic calming measures to be introduced and voiced concerns about the potential impact on neighbouring residents.

But the developer says the site, on which planning permission for eight homes was granted in 2007, would not be viable for development without the additional properties being permitted.
