Proposals for a new MOT centre have been approved by councillors, despite opposition from rail service chiefs.
The site at Station Yard, The Causeway, Stow Bridge is accessed between a bungalow and the main rail line linking West Norfolk to the capital.
Network Rail, the company responsible for maintaining the railway network, opposed the application, submitted by R B Trucks Ltd.
They warned that the development would increase risk surrounding the crossing point, because of the higher number of vehicles using it.
They added: “Due to the increase in vehicle numbers visiting the site, Network Rail are of the opinion that the risk of a potential accident occurring at the level crossing is also increased.”
But West Norfolk Council’s planning committee approved the scheme at its meeting on Monday.
The decision followed officers’ recommendations for the scheme.
Their report to the committee said: “On this occasion, officers consider that the proposal would not significantly increase the potential of an accident over and above what could presently occur.”
