Fakenham logisitics firm Jack Richards is taking part in a Goverment trial to establish the advantages of using longer trailers.
The firm, has added five 15.65m trailers to its fleet after being awarded one of just 10,000 licenses allowing them to take part in the Department for Transport’s trial of longer semi-trailers. Standard models are usually 13.1m.
Following its successful application, Jack Richards, part of Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest-growing express palletised freight network, has invested close-on a quarter of a million pounds to expand its fleet.
Dominic Purslow, depot principal at Jack Richards, said: “This has been a massive investment for us but the return is huge, as we now have the ability to carry more pallets on fewer journeys.”
