South West Norfolk MP Liz Truss has made it through to the next round of voting for Conservative MPs to select their new leader – and the country's next Prime Minister.

The result this afternoon was Rishi Sunak 118 votes (up three), Penny Mordaunt 92 (up 10), Liz Truss 86 (up 15).

Kemi Badenoch only put on one vote to finish with 59 votes and was eliminated.

The final elimination ballot takes place tomorrow (Wednesday) when the final two to be put before a ballot of all Tory Party members will be announced.

Ms Truss and Ms Mordaunt are fighting to join ex-chancellor Sunak in that ballot and although she has trailed throughout the process so far, having now made up a fair bit of ground, Ms Truss may well feel confident that she can win over more of Ms Bedenoch's support than her rival.
