King’s Lynn and Emmerich Twinning Club meet and That’s Entertainment columnist Andy Tyler describes the visit

Members of the Lynn and Emmerich Twinning Club visited Emmerich-am-Rhein recently and enjoyed their trip, meeting with old and new German friends, writes Andy Tyler.

The club has been in existence for 45 years, and German members visit Lynn one year and English members, Emmerich the next.

Naturally there were no exchanges during the Pandemic, but it was possible to meet via Zoom.

This time in Emmerich, members enjoyed a reception on a floating restaurant, where the mayor of Emmerich and our chairman, Philip Mole addressed the guests and then members enjoyed a tour of the local countryside in a carriage driven by a tractor.

During a break in the journey members enjoyed superb ice cream, a speciality of the area.

As always the visit seemed too short, but the German members have an open invitation to visit Lynn next year.
