Two men charged with Downham murder

Two men have been charged with murder following the death of a man in Downham on Sunday night.

Norfolk Police have announced that Wayne Peckham, 47, and Riley Peckham, 22, both of Manby Close, Hilgay, will appear before magistrates in Norwich this morning.

The pair are accused of murdering 39-year-old Matthew Rodwell, whose parents say they are "devastated" by his death.

Riley Peckham also faces charges of escape from lawful custody and assaulting an emergency worker.

Mr Rodwell, from Fincham, was found with serious head injuries at an address in Bulrush Avenue after police were called there shortly before 8pm on Sunday.

Despite the efforts of both police and paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement, released through Norfolk Police this evening, Mr Rodwell's parents said: "We’re devastated at the loss of our son.

"Words cannot describe how we’re all feeling and all we ask is you respect our privacy at this very difficult time."
