Oxburgh Hall and Royal West Norfolk Golf Club in Brancaster reach regional finals in Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors awards

Two pieces of West Norfolk architecture have been revealed as finalists in a national awards ceremony.

Royal West Norfolk Golf Club and Oxburgh Hall are in the running to receive Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) awards for the East of England.

The awards, which celebrate architecture and its preservation, are seen as a high accomplishment.

Shortlisted in the heritage project and refurbishment/revitalisation project categories, a major new refurbishment and extension of the clubhouse for the Royal West Norfolk Golf Club at Brancaster improved and modernised the existing Victorian clubhouse.

Oxburgh Hall, shortlisted in the heritage project category, is a 15th century manor house owned and managed by the National Trust.

The £6m project has successfully seen repairs carried out to the roof, windows, chimneys, and medieval gatehouse façade, whilst remaining open to the public throughout the works.

The entries are shortlisted across five categories – residential development, community benefit, heritage, public sector, and refurbishment/revitalisation.

Chair of the East of England RICS Awards judging panel Jonathan Nelson said: “It is great to see such inspirational projects in the East of England shortlisted for these awards.

“It is a true testament to the dedication of surveying professionals across the region. I wish all of the projects the best of luck.”

Companies still have the opportunity to enter an additional six categories – to be judged nationally – and have until April 26 to submit their entries.
