Underweight seal pup rescued from Old Hunstanton

Medics rescued an underweight seal on the West Norfolk coastline yesterday morning.

British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) ensured a seal pup was transported from Old Hunstanton beach to the RSPCA East Winch Wildlife Centre.

Another seal pup was also taken to the Gayton Road centre after being found at Shoeburyness in Essex.

This seal was one of two rescued by the British Divers Marine Life Rescue on Sunday. One was found at Old Hunstanton beach while the other was found in Essex. Both were taken to the East Winch RSPCA centre. Picture: BDMLR Suffolk & Norfolk

Posting on social media, BDMLR said: "They were both underweight and too young to be on their own. Now they are being cared for at RSPCA East Winch until they grow bigger and stronger."

The BDMLR rescue hotline can be contacted at 01825 765546. It was formed in 1988, after divers got together in response to a "mass mortality of common seals" in the Wash area.
