Staff of a Fakenham supermarket were threatened with crowbars during an armed robbery.

Police say three men broke into the Morrisons store on Clipbush Lane at around 10.30pm on Tuesday night.

Detectives say the men threatened workers before forcing open tills with the crowbars and fleeing with an unknown quantity of cash.

The store was closed to customers at the time of the raid and no-one was injured. Only staff were inside the premises at the time.

The robbers are believed to have escaped in a vehicle which was waiting in either Holt Road or Enterprise Way, which are at the back of the site.

The store is also close to the home ground of Fakenham Town Football Club, who posted their own appeal on Twitter in connection with the incident.

The club had been playing Thetford Town and posted yesterday: “Did anyone leaving Clipbush Park at around 10:30 pm last night see or hear anything? If so, please report it ASAP!”

Anyone who witnessed the robbery, or who has information about it, is asked to contact Det Con Carl Ritchie, of Lynn CID, via the non-emergency 101 number.
