Four fire crews were called to a flat fire in the heart of Lynn this evening.
The incident in Nelson Street was reported to the Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service at around 5.40pm today.
At its heart, three crews from Lynn and one from Sandringham were at the scene.
Resident Lorraine Whiteside, who lives in the affected flat, said she had been notified of the blaze just minutes after she left to visit a friend in nearby Hillington Square.
She said: “I just got a call from the police to say there was a fire in the property.
“They said they broke down the door to get my dog out.”
She described the flat as “heavily smoke damaged” and said she was having to stay with friends overnight.
The fire service’s online log suggests the blaze began in the kitchen area,,
However, Miss Whiteside said she had been told there would be further investigations tomorrow.
