A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery on a Lynn cycle path yesterday morning in which a teenage girl had her mobile phone stolen.

Police confirmed a short time ago that a man in his 20s had been detained in connection with the incident, which happened on the route near Edward Benefer Way and Gaywood Road at around 7.30am on Wednesday.

A Norfolk Police spokesman said the man remains in custody.

News of the arrest comes less than 24 hours after detectives appealed for witnesses to come forward in connection with the incident.

Detectives say the girl was approached by a man on a bike who demanded her white iPhone. She was also threatened with an item, which is believed to have been a knife.

The girl, who is believed to be in her mid-teens and was not injured in the incident, handed over her phone and the attacker fled towards Edward Benefer Way.
