A motorcyclist has died after his machine was in collision with another motorbike and a 4x4 on the A10 at Hilgay, near Downham, yesterday.

An investigation has been launched into the incident, which happened close to the junction with Modney Bridge Road at around 11.50am.

Police say the bikes had been travelling towards Downham when one of them, a Kawasaki, collided with a BMW X3 which was turning into Modney Bridge Road.

The rider, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 30s, who was riding a Honda 599 machine, suffered minor injuries after falling from his bike when it struck a kerb as he took evasive action.

The road was closed for more than five hours while emergency crews dealt with the incident and initial investigations were carried out.

Anyone who saw the crash, or any of the vehicles involved prior to it, is urged to come forward.

Witnesses are asked to contact Sgt Peter Howlett, of the Swaffham roads policing unit, via the non-emergency 101 number.
