A woman has died after a ‘severe’ fire at a house in Heacham.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at the property, in Caley Street, at about 8pm yesterday (Saturday).
The cause of the fire is not yet known but the building remains unstable at this time and a police cordon is in place.
Norfolk Police confirmed a woman inside the property at the time of the fire died.
Fire crews used hose reel and main jets which were supplemented by a hydrant to extinguish the fire.
Breathing apparatus were also used as well as a thermal image camera.
A spokesman for Norfolk Fire Service said it was a ‘severe’ fire which was brought under control just after 10pm.
Six fire engines attended including appliances from Heacham, Hunstanton, Kings Lynn North, Holt and Kings Lynn South.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 8.18pm yesterday to Caley Street, Heacham, to a report of a house fire.
“A rapid response vehicle attended. There was one patient who sadly died at the scene.”
A structural survey of the property will be carried out before the scene can be declared safe for investigators.
