Urgent call for volunteer mentors to support young people in care in King’s Lynn
A charity supporting children and young adults in care and leaving care is urgently seeking volunteer mentors to make a lasting difference in the lives of the young people they support in West Norfolk.
The Break charity will be hosting an informal taster event on Tuesday, February 4 in Lynn where those interested will have the opportunity to connect with some of the young people who could benefit from mentoring and find out more about being a mentor.
“Young people from care often face immense life challenges and some have little consistent family support,” said Break mentoring lead Maren Albrigtsen.
“And for those leaving care, it’s not uncommon to experience many changes in the professionals around them. We believe they deserve positive and caring role models, and as a mentor you’ll be making a meaningful impact during vital stages of a young person’s life. We urgently need more mentors to step up and support these incredible young people."
Currently, there are around ten young people waiting to be matched with a mentor, ranging from 15 through to those over 18 and leaving care. These young people are eager to build connections with trusted adults who can support them as they navigate key transitions in their lives. Full training and ongoing support are provided to ensure you feel confident in your role.
If you are passionate about making a difference and can commit a few hours each fortnight, Break would love to hear from you.
