‘Exciting milestone’ as consultation event for Swaffham Sacred Heart VA Primary rebuild is planned

Residents have been invited to have their say on plans for a new town school before an official application is submitted.

The Swaffham community is being asked to attend a consultation event on July 10 to discuss proposals for a new school building at Sacred Heart VA Primary.

This will give them a chance to look at the plans and talk to the builders, staff and the Diocese of East Anglia, which runs the school.

Meanwhile, drawings showing the proposed design of the new school have also been released by CPMG Architects.

The consultation event will take place at the school from 3.30pm until 7pm next Wednesday.

Helen Bates, assistant director of Diocesan Schools, said: “This is a very exciting milestone in the school rebuilding project.

“It is the culmination of two years of intensive design work and we believe it will provide an attractive and much more usable building and site for the school.

“The new school building will be at the front of the site facing Sporle Road which will provide much better site security, with the playing fields at the back.

“The only existing building that will remain is the sports hall which will be available out of normal school hours for community use.

“The new building will be built first so that the school can continue to operate in its existing buildings. The school will then move to the new building to allow the old buildings to be demolished.

“It is estimated that construction will take up to 18 months.”

Anyone who is unable to attend the consultation event but would like to discuss the plans can contact the project’s principal planner on oliver.corbett@dppukltd.com or 07947 760517.

Alternatively, comments can be posted to Mr Corbett at DPP, One Park Row, Leeds, LS1 5HN.
