West Acre village fete raises £2,000 for good causes

Some £2,000 was raised for three causes as West Acre’s annual village fete returned for another year of fun.

The fete was held in the garden of Abbey House behind the church and welcomed more than 250 people throughout the afternoon.

Craft and plant stalls joined many traditional fete games such as a coconut shy and bash the rat.

Lead organiser Henry Birkbeck talked about the success of the day.

“We had our popular duck racing game down the river Nar which had 200 bets on ducks, and three kegs of beer were drunk.

"We had good weather and a really nice day.”
