Clenchwarton play area opens with new equipment after six-figure renovation
Parents and friends sat and watched as children tried out their new play equipment at Clenchwarton on Sunday.
Around 200 people turned out to celebrate the opening of the new play park and enjoy a picnic in the park.
The play area has been completely renovated at a cost of £116,000 with some exciting new equipment and the working group behind the project is now looking to the next phase of development which might include a gym trail, multi use games area (MUGA) and skateboard area.
Sunday’s official opening was performed by 10-year-old William Goodwin, of Clenchwarton Primary School.
William completed a 10k run to raise money towards the play park and with other pupils managed to contribute £600.
Caroline Coates, from the renovation working group, said that everyone seemed delighted with the new play area.
“All of the feedback has been positive,” she said, adding that they were delighted so many people turned out on Sunday to watch the youngsters.
As well as the picnic, the afternoon included a hog roast, plenty of ice cream for keeping cool, a cake stall and games, and live music.
