Ladybirds Preschool in Walpole Cross Keys achieves its second 'outstanding' Ofsted rating
A preschool in Walpole Cross Keys is celebrating achieving its second consecutive 'outstanding' rating following an Ofsted inspection.
Ladybirds Preschool which meets in the grounds of the village primary school is run by Nikki Courtman, who has been manager for nearly 20 years. Ofsted recognised it as 'outstanding' during its last inspection just over four years ago.
She said: "The staff work exceptionally hard to provide an environment and early years curriculum that captivates children's interest and imagination.
"This rating follows so soon after new Ofsted inspection standards came into force in September. Our inspection was October, although the result is made public several weeks afterwards.
"The staff and the committee all feel appreciated for their continued dedication to providing a constantly evolving early years setting."
During her 20 years, Nikki says she has seen the standards getting harder and harder and there is a continual need to meet fresh challenges.
"As we evolve there is less focus on toys, but more on using real life resources," said Nikki.
Her team includes deputy manager Alison Rust and assistants Emma Bunkall and Rachel Mead.
Rachel was the winner of the College of West Anglia's childcare apprentice of the year 2019.
"She worked really hard to achieve this and it is another accolade for the preschool, which Ofsted recognises," said Nikki.
The preschool, which takes 24 children daily, is full to capacity. It meets from 9am-3pm Monday to Thursday.
