The Rose and Crown in Harpley is launching a street food hut

The Rose and Crown in Harpley is launching a new street food hut this weekend, featuring an ever-changing selection of homemade dishes for collection.

Alice Darlow of the Rose and Crown said: “With the pub getting busier and busier, we realised we were turning away customers because we were fully booked, so we wanted to offer something else to ensure everyone can enjoy our amazing food.

“Every Friday and Saturday from 5pm-9pm, one of our chefs, Jake Smith, will be serving a variety of classic street food dishes for people to take home or enjoy in the garden.

“No need to pre-order, just turn up and order at the counter, and enjoy a drink while you wait.”

Jake added: “I have always had a love for street food, particularly ‘dirty food’ you can enjoy with a pint.

“We are going to be serving lots of cool new dishes, using the amazing local ingredients we have in Norfolk, with something for everyone.

“Last Friday we opened the hut for local customers, offering all the food for free, and the feedback was fantastic - the pub was packed; so we hope we continue to get such incredible support going forwards.”

This week they are serving double cheeseburgers with bacon jam in a homemade bun with fries, lamb kofte with mint, flatbread, street slaw, and fries as well as a beef rendang curry. Also available are crispy duck bao buns, buffalo chicken wings, and loaded fries.

Alice added: “The pub is the heart of the community, and it is so exciting to be able to offer something different for our customers.

“We already have a late lunch club between 2pm and 4pm from Monday to Friday where people can buy one get one free, which is very well supported and a great way to avoid the crowds of a busy lunchtime or evening service, and we hope the street food hut will give people a further option to enjoy our fabulous food.”

The Rose and Crown is open seven days a week, serving food all day long from noon.
