The Angel at Watlington awarded AA Rosette for second time

Staff at a village pub have been left full of pride after being awarded a prestigious rosette commending their quality food for the second time.

The AA Rosette award was the first nationwide scheme for assessing the quality of food served by restaurants and hotels.

The company’s team of inspectors say that due to their “wealth of experience in assessing quality”, receiving the award is “a huge achievement not to be underestimated”.

The Angel at Watlington can now consider itself among the best after scooping it in recent weeks.

Emily Phipps, who owns the pub, said: “We are so proud of all our team for their hard work to get us this far and so grateful to all our customers for all their support with the Angel.

“As a team we are so proud of this achievement and the recognition it has brought to the pub and also the local area.

“Winning this second AA rosette is the continuation of our journey to continue to develop and evolve our skills, the menu and also the pub with another refurbishment in the pipeline and hopefully it will only progress from there.”

She also paid tribute to the pub’s “amazing local suppliers”, which include Donaldsons Fishmongers, Godwards Butchers, Fruit Pig Butchery and Danns Farm, “as without their support and the standard of their produce we wouldn’t be able to produce the dishes we do”.
