Dersingham VA Primary and Nursery School youngsters are guests of honour at relaunch of Central England Co-operative store in the village
Artistic Dersingham schoolchildren who put their own designs on a village store which has just had a £190,000 makeover were guests of honour at its relaunch.
Dersingham VA Primary and Nursery School produced a colourful piece of artwork which now adorns the front of the Central England Co-operative Lynn Road store.
Youngsters from the school were invited along to help cut the ribbon and to see the finished artwork for themselves.
They also produced some festive Christmas decorations for the store’s Christmas tree inside the entrance to the store.
The revamped store now boasts an updated product range to better reflect customers’ requirements, fresh decoration, a new customer toilet, new customer seating inside and outside the store there is even ‘pet parking’.
Store manager Tim Drew said: “Our team has been so excited. The revamp looks fantastic and already customers have been making many positive comments about how it looks.
“I would like to thank our members and customers for their patience during the refurbishment and I hope they enjoy the changes as much as we do.
“All of us here at the Dersingham food store are proud to be part of such a great community in Dersingham and it was fantastic to be able to welcome the schoolchildren to be our guests of honour at the opening of our brand new store and to see their fantastic artwork recreated on the store.
“We are looking forward to welcoming customers, new and old, to come and enjoy our food store and see the changes for themselves.”
Gayle Platt, headteacher at the school, said it school was delighted to team up with the store on the artwork.
She said: “The children had a great time completing the projects and were very excited to go and have a look around the store and see their work proudly displayed.”
The store has a wide range of products from everyday necessities to something a little more special. It offers fresh and local fruit and vegetables, an instore bakery, chilled beers and wines, fresh and frozen products and Irresistible product ranges.
It also has a car park, cash machine, Collect Plus, Paypoint, food bank, and Lottery, as well as a lifesaving defibrillator.
