A £25,000 campaign to fund new play equipment in a village near Swaffham has reached its goal after the new facility was formally opened.
Residents and community leaders in North Pickenham have spent the past two years raising the money needed for the equipment on the Johnsons’ playing field.
And the facility was formally unveiled at an opening ceremony on Friday.
Funding for the play area was drawn from a number of sources including the parish council, the North Pickenham Windfarm LLP, the Temporis Windfarm and the Pickenham Development Trust. The equipment was installed by Action Play and Leisure, who are based at Carleton Rode, near Attleborough. A village fete held in 2013 also contributed to the appeal.
The celebrations also included a barbecue, ice cream van and a pop-up pub run by officials from the North Pickenham Community Project.
