Officials from a village playgroup say they have already received offers of help after launching an appeal to raise funds for repairs to their headquarters.
Last month, managers of the Watlington Pre-School revealed they needed to raise at least £8,000 to pay for the roof of their building in the village primary school’s grounds to be fixed.
But, following a fun day on Saturday, group chairman Lyndsey Whiting said support was starting to build.
She said: “We have had quite a few people come forward. One chap said he would see if he could get it done for half the quote we have had.”
Attractions at the fun day, held at the Angel pub, included a performance from Kelly’s Dance Crew, plus a range of games.
Visitors could test their strength on a game called Numpty the Clown, test their reflexes by beating the buzzer, try to beat the keeper or turn their hands to bowling.
And Mrs Whiting said: “They were all very popular.”
The final total raised is not yet known, but it is hoped that around £400 will be collected.
Mrs Whiting said: “It was a really great day. We had lots of people there and it was a real success.”
The appeal is set to be further boosted by a raffle which will take place during the pre-school’s sports day today.
And further fundraisers are also being planned for the new term this autumn.
