Villagers collect bags of rubbish to make Sedgeford a “nicer and cleaner” place to live

A group of hardy villagers spent time on Saturday on a voluntary litter pick.

The 25 plus Sedgeford parishioners gave up their time and effort to tackle unwanted litter around their village.

The litter pick was arranged by the parish council which hopes the exercise will result in the village being a nicer, cleaner place in which to live.

West Norfolk Borough Council provided litter picking packs, containing fluorescent jackets, litter pickers and bags. More than 20 bags of rubbish were collected, in addition to various car parts, including a wheel.

A spokesperson said: “Most of the litter was found on road sides suggesting it is traffic related. Thanks to Sedgeford Village Hall for hosting the refreshments afterwards which were very kindly donated and served by a local couple.”

This was the second year such an event has been held and it is now annual fixture on the village calendar, the spokesperson added.
