Visitors to Sandringham on Christmas Day advised on traffic measures

People visiting Sandringham on Christmas Day have been advised that traffic control measures will be in place.

Norfolk Police has encouraged well-wishers to arrive in plenty of time to access the public viewing area, where they can see members of the Royal Family make their way to and from church.

Officers will have the usual practical and precautionary security measures in place, including searches upon entry, while the stretch of road from the Norwich Gates to the Visitors Centre will be closed.

On-duty officers will be patrolling around the estate to make sure people can access and leave the area easily.

Last year, Royal fans were treated to the sight of the Prince and Princess of Wales walking hand in hand with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis from Sandringham House on their way to St Mary Magdalene Church.

This year, The Duke of York has been told to stay away from the family’s traditional Christmas gathering amid the controversy surrounding his links to an alleged Chinese spy.
