King’s Lynn Rotary Club donates £450 to Hunstanton RNLI after volunteer talk

Inspired by a recent talk given by a RNLI volunteer, a Rotary club decided to hand over a cheque which will help save lives at sea.

Lynn’s Rotary Club presented a £450 cheque to Hunstanton RNLI after lifeboat Spirit of West Norfolk returned from a training launch on Sunday, July 21.

Mel Robson from the 20-strong club said the money came from a £250 donation from Rotary, along with £200 she raised by hosting a garden party at her home in Downham with her husband Paul.

Mel said: “I was the president of the Rotary club until the end of June. So it was my last hurrah.”

She added the club decided to make the donation after Kate Craven, station visits officer and water safety lead at Hunstanton RNLI gave a talk to members on the work of the station.
