Walking football tournament to be held in Hunstanton this Saturday
A new sport is coming to Hunstanton which offers people over 60 the chance to play football.
Walking football is coming to the seaside town’s Recreation Ground and the first session is being held at the weekend.
The event has been organised by West Norfolk Council and Heacham Walking FC and will be a small, eight team tournament.
Kick-off will be on Saturday, May 18 at 10.30am, presentations will be made at around 4pm.
Cllr Simon Ring, cabinet member for tourism, events and marketing, said: “This sport has grown in popularity and I’m pleased to see it being introduced in Hunstanton as part of our summer events schedule.
“I’d also like to thank Heacham Walking FC for their support in organising this and Alive West Norfolk for the loan of the tournament goals. Eight teams are already registered and will play through the day and I urge residents and visitors to come and cheer them on.”
Teams from all over Norfolk are participating. Sherringham, Norwich Socca Seniors A & B, Lynn, Mundesley, Heacham, Cromer Strollers and Erpingham Leisure Hub will be competing.
