Planners have been recommended to give the green light to an application to build three homes in Walpole Cross Keys.

Members of West Norfolk Council’s planning committee will be deciding on the bid to construct the homes on land at Whitehouse Farm, Station Road North.

Mr and Mrs Mason have applied to construct two four bedroom detached house and one barn style dwelling.

Walpole Cross Keys Parish Council has objected to the plans. Members have raised concerns that the development is out of keeping and will affect a dyke. The borough council has also received 11 letters of objection.

A report to the planning committee, which meets on Monday states: “In relation to “the Core Strategy it is considered that it has been demonstrated that this site could not be retained for employment purposes due to the unsuitability of the building, and close relationship with adjoining residential development and therefore the development of this site for residential purposes is acceptable in principle.”

It also states: “It is considered that issues relating to highway safety, surface water drainage, land contamination, ecology and neighbour amenity could all be dealt with successfully by appropriate planning conditions.”
