Watch video of the moment Liz Truss loses South West Norfolk seat in general election
The Lynn News captured footage of the moment Liz Truss lost her South West Norfolk seat.
Arriving at Lynnsport shortly before 7am this morning to hear the results in a constituency she has represented since 2010, Ms Truss soon found out that Labour’s Terry Jermy had pipped her to the post by around 600 votes.
Mr Jermy quickly offered Ms Truss a handshake, which she reciprocated with a message of congratulations.
During a winning speech, the new Labour MP thanked Ms Truss for the work she has put in during her time in South West Norfolk.
The former Prime Minister then made a quick exit from the venue.
Mr Jermy had received 11,847 votes to her 11,217.
Reform UK’s Toby McKenzie came in third with 9,958 votes, while independent candidate James Bagge - who had been widely tipped to challenge for the seat - received 6,282.
