Water, water back in Stanhoe village pond after months

The effects of the long hot summer have been particularly keenly felt in one West Norfolk village, whose pond has water again for the first time in months.

The record-breaking weather took its toll earlier this year with much of the countryside left parched and emergency crews facing a major surge in calls.

But this was the scene in Stanhoe this week as conditions returned to something nearer normal after the summer heat, though still with the sunshine.

The village’s award-winning Duck Inn tweeted last Friday: “After five months we finally have water! And the village pond has magically refilled.”
