West Norfolk MPs Liz Truss and James Wild back Jeremy Hunt’s Autumn Statement

West Norfolk’s MPs have thrown their weight behind Jeremy Hunt’s plans to boost growth by helping businesses across the country.

James Wild and Liz Truss, both Conservatives, have voiced their support for the raft of measures unveiled by the Chancellor on Wednesday.

Mr Wild, the North West Norfolk MP, said: “With inflation halved we are turning a corner and this was a package squarely focused on help with the cost of living, rewarding workers, and boosting growth.

“I welcome the additional support for people in North West Norfolk with increases to the national living wage, pensions, benefits, housing allowance rates, as well as tax cuts for workers.

“The Chancellor listened to the points I made on behalf of local business by extending business rate relief for pubs, restaurants, shops and other firms and with big tax incentives to help boost growth, productivity, and people’s living standards.”

Meanwhile, Ms Truss, the South West Norfolk MP, said she has welcomed an extension of full expensing, which she hopes will boost growth in the UK.

The former Prime Minister has also called for more tax cuts for businesses.

She added: “To increase growth more, Corporation Tax should be cut back to 19% which would lead to 3.2% more growth over 20 years.”
