Former King Edward VII (KES) student Beth Smith from North Wootton is lapping up a generous donation from West Norfolk history author Bob Booth.
The writer, also a former KES student, wanted to support Beth in her challenge to cycle 240-miles in three days from London to Paris raising money for breast cancer research.
Beth’s challenge will take place next month. She said: “During my seven years at KES I was involved in many fundraising events. Now in my second year at university I am delighted to be part of Loughborough’s charity cycle team and raising money for such a worthy cause.
“Although this is going to be a tough challenge, I have been training and just hope I can cope with the considerable inclines on the route to Paris.”
The money comes from the sales of Bob’s last two books King’s Lynn in Colour (volume 1) and (combined volumes 2 and 3), which are on sale at Waterstones and WH Smith while stocks last. More sales will help generate more profit for charities (www.trickysampublishing.co.uk) and donations can be made at: www.justgiving.com/B-SMITH8
