West Norfolk borough mayor flags away 80 classic cars




West Norfolk borough mayor, Nick Daubney, flagged away more than 80 cherished cars on Lynn Motor Club’s classic car rally on Sunday.

The borough mayor, who is a longstanding club member, got behind the wheel of his MGB roadster and he and the mayoress, Cheryl, joined the rest of the entrants on a drive to Hockwold for lunch and then on to Kentwell Hall, in Suffolk.

Starting from Anglia Car Auctions, who were the main sponsors, this was the club’s 41st classic run and attracted entries dating back to the late 1920s.

A donation will be made to Norfolk Accident and Rescue Service.

Award winner for Car of the Day was David Sutton, of Huntingdon. Bentley Special Vintage PVT, was Foster Jones, of Colchester. Humber 14/40 Historic Classic was Paul Lovett, of Lincoln.

And winner of the Austin Healey Post-Historic Classic, was Geoff Glover, of Ely. Ford RS2000 Modern Classic was Stephen Cook, of Bury St Edmunds. Porsche 993 Most Appropriately Attired Crew was Rick Fryer, of Dereham, and Austin Seven Witham Oils £50 gift voucher was Brian Goderson, of Lynn.
